A beach stay works or it doesn't based on one thing: how easily you get to the water and back. Here you can look at the surf from the patio, walk down in a couple of minutes, and come back up when you're finished, salt and all.

The beach

Cerritos is a long, open Pacific beach with the point at one end. Most days here fall into the same shape: down to the sand in the morning, back up for lunch, out again in the afternoon when the light gets low.

Worth knowing before you book: Pico is the top-floor home and the only way up is the stairs. Parking is on site.
